A street carnival with the theme "The Quintessence of Hanoi - Confluence and Shine” is scheduled to be held around Hoan Kiem Lake in the centre of Hanoi on July 29, according to an announcement from the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports on July 20.

The event is organised by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with the Centre for Preservation and Development of Vietnamese Stage Arts on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the city's expansion of its administrative boundary.

The festival is scheduled to take place from 8am to 11am with the participation of more than 5,000 people parading around Hoan Kiem Lake, Ly Thai To Square, Ba Kieu Temple, Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, in front of Luc Thuy restaurant, Ba Trieu - Hang Khay intersection, and Hang Bai - Trang Tien intersection.

In particular, the parade groups comprise of thousands of artisans, folk performing artists, elderly people and students of the city with interesting performances of traditional dances and costumes.

In addition, the Aodai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) performance is a perennial highlight of the event with new collections by popular designers of Hanoi.

So far, out of the 10 targets of NQ04, 3 targets have been met and exceeded the plan set for 2025. Typically, 70% of the intangible cultural heritage (ICH) of ethnic groups in the province is on the list of the national ICH items and they have been protected and restored, exceeding 20% of the proposed Resolution.
