(HBO) - In recent years, the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life” in, the district has achieved practical results, and it has step by step gone into depth and become a large patriotic emulation movement.
Over the past
years, the cultural and artistic movement of Mai Chau district has been
developing, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the local people.
As one of the contents of the
movement, the movement "Building a cultural family” always plays an important
role and attaches to building a cultural community having the economic,
cultural and spiritual life that has been developing in a healthy and plentiful
manner. Most families in the district always obey the guidelines, the policies
and the laws of the Party and the State policies, attaching the criteria and
standards to build cultural families with the building of conventions and
regulations, and being approved by the local people.
In the period of
2016-2020, implementing the movement of "Building cultural families”, in the
whole district, there were 51,622 turns of households recognized as families
meeting the cultural standards, 1,709 turns of the collectives, 7,097 turns of
the typical advanced individuals were rewarded by the different level of the
committees, the authorities, the departments and the unions from the central to
local level. 590 turns of agencies, units and enterprises were recognized to
meet the cultural standards, 100 villages, hamlets and groups have mediation
teams that are in operation.
In the coming time, the district
will continue to promote propaganda, raising the awareness for the Party
members, the cadres, the civil servants, public employees and the people about the
position, role and importance of the movement in new development stage. The
leadership and direction of the Party Committees at all levels and the local
authorities towards the movement will be strengthened. It is important to
consider this as a central and cross-cutting task. It is determined that
building a cultural life is a job of the entire people, a comprehensive and
long-term task that must mobilize synergy in the implementation. The
performance of the performance teams and the preservation of the good values of
national culture must be improved...
In addition, the district continues to
improve the quality of activities of the Steering Committee for the movement of
the entire people uniting to build a cultural life, promoting propaganda,
implementing the civilized life, the office culture, the construction of a
healthy cultural environment and the civilized implementation in weddings,
mourning, festivals, ensuring the democracy in reviewing the titles and
promoting emulation and commendation so that it can make the movement strongly
develop.
Gongs hold a special place in the cultural and spiritual life of the Muong ethnic people in Hoa Binh province. More than musical instruments, they are an indispensable part of community rituals and collective memory, echoing through generations as a spiritual thread linking the past, present, and future.
Preserving and promoting the cultural values of the Muong ethnic group has become an urgent task in the current context, as many traditional values face the risk of fading away. This effort requires not only protecting the cultural identity but also eliminating outdated customs and developing a modern cultural lifestyle, contributing to sustainable values for the Muong community in Hoa Binh province.

For generations, the ethnic communities of Hoa Binh province, particularly the Muong people, have preserved vibrant festivals deeply intertwined with the region’s geography, nature, and social traditions. These celebrations enrich Hoa Binh’s spiritual life and cultural identity, reflecting both folk beliefs and the intermingling of ethnic customs. Many of these festivals have endured the test of time, passed down through generations and continuing to thrive today. Among them, the Khai Ha (Going Down to the Field) festival stands out as one of the most significant events of the Muong ethnic group.
Muong calendar, known as sach doi, is an ancient folk knowledge system developed through observations of the movement of the pleiades star. This unique calendar consists of 12 bamboo sticks, each representing a lunar month. Specific days within each month are marked with distinct symbols, guiding locals in determining auspicious and inauspicious days for important activities.
