(HBO) - The People's Committee of Lac Thuy district held a meeting to review the 5-year movement of "All people unite to build a cultural life” during the period of 2016 - 2020.
The leaders of the
District’s People's Committee are awarding the certificates of merit to the
individuals and the households with the outstanding achievements in the
movement of "All people unite to build a cultural life” during the period of
2016 - 2020.
With the
motto of "for the sake of the People, implemented by the people's power,
discussed and self-managed by the people”, in the past 5 years, the movement
"All people unite to build a cultural life” in Lac Thuy district has been the
greater and greater movement, attracting a large number of people from all
classes to participate and responded positively. The movements: Building
cultural agencies, units, businesses, villages, hamlets band families, creative
study and work, training the bodies following the the great example of Uncle
Ho..., especially the movement of building new rural areas, have created a wide
spread in the community, contributing to strengthening the block of great
solidarity for the entire people. Through the implementation of the movements,
there are more and more good people, good deeds, and advanced examples. The
number of the cultural households, the cultural villages, residential areas,
agencies, units and enterprises achieving the cultural standards in the
following year are higher than those in the previous year. By 2020, in the
whole district there have been 88.9% of the households reaching the title of
the cultural households, 95.5% of the cultural villages and residential areas,
94.5% of the agencies, the units and the enterprises have met the cultural
standards.
In the
period of 2020 - 2025, the district has set out the following objectives:
Focusing on leading and directing the construction of a cultural life into the
reality with depth, which is associated with the task of building cultural
families, villages, residential areas and enterprises; building new people with
patriotism who live responsibly; building a cultural life in parallel with
hunger eradication and poverty reduction, building new rural areas, civilized
cities, preserving and promoting the national cultural identity. They are
trying for for the target that by 2025 there will have 95% or more of the
households reaching the title of the cultural families, 94% of the villages and
the residential areas reaching the title of culture and the 98% of agencies and
units meet the cultural standards in the whole district.
At the
meeting, 19 collectives and 14 individuals with excellent achievements in the
movement "All people unite to build a cultural life” in the 2016-2020 period
were praised and commended.
Gongs hold a special place in the cultural and spiritual life of the Muong ethnic people in Hoa Binh province. More than musical instruments, they are an indispensable part of community rituals and collective memory, echoing through generations as a spiritual thread linking the past, present, and future.
Preserving and promoting the cultural values of the Muong ethnic group has become an urgent task in the current context, as many traditional values face the risk of fading away. This effort requires not only protecting the cultural identity but also eliminating outdated customs and developing a modern cultural lifestyle, contributing to sustainable values for the Muong community in Hoa Binh province.
The Muong ethnic culture, deeply rooted in Vietnam’s mountainous north, continues to be preserved and revitalised by dedicated individuals and communities determined to safeguard their ancestral identity.

The Muong people in Hoa Binh boast a rich and diverse cultural treasure that reflects the unique identity of this ethnic group. Accounting for over 63% of the province's population, they have created and preserved numerous distinctive cultural values, contributing to their unique identity. Their cultural heritage is an invaluable asset, at the heart of their national identity, and represents a vibrant spiritual life that must be preserved and promoted in today’s modern world.
For generations, the ethnic communities of Hoa Binh province, particularly the Muong people, have preserved vibrant festivals deeply intertwined with the region’s geography, nature, and social traditions. These celebrations enrich Hoa Binh’s spiritual life and cultural identity, reflecting both folk beliefs and the intermingling of ethnic customs. Many of these festivals have endured the test of time, passed down through generations and continuing to thrive today. Among them, the Khai Ha (Going Down to the Field) festival stands out as one of the most significant events of the Muong ethnic group.
Muong calendar, known as sach doi, is an ancient folk knowledge system developed through observations of the movement of the pleiades star. This unique calendar consists of 12 bamboo sticks, each representing a lunar month. Specific days within each month are marked with distinct symbols, guiding locals in determining auspicious and inauspicious days for important activities.
