(HBO) – The provincial Department of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the People’s Committee of Hoa Binh city in Hoa Binh province recently organised a book and reading culture festival.
The organising board presents awards to outstanding booths at the festival.
The event, the sixth of its kind in Hoa Binh province held in response to the Vietnam Book Day (April 21), drew the participation of 15th booths of local agencies, units and schools, with more than 2,000 book titles on show.
An array of activities was organised during the festival, including the presentation of the book exhibiting booths, storytelling, book introduction, and book presenting to schools with difficulties, among others.
The festival offered opportunities to affirm the important role of books in the society, as well as honour book collectors, researchers, publishers and archivists.
Besides, it helped promote reading culture among local people, while emphasising the significance of books in improving knowledge and skills.
At the event, the organising board presented the first prize to the booth of Ky Son Primary and Secondary School. It also presented three second prizes, five third prizes and six consolidation prizes to other excellent booths./.
Hoa Binh province has carried out multiple programmes and initiatives to revive its cultural heritage which has gradually fallen into oblivion through the ebbs and flows of history.

Known as the "Land of Epic History”, Hoa Binh province, the gateway to Vietnam’s northwest, boasts a strategic location and a unique cultural tapestry woven by its ethnic minority communities.
The People's Committee of Luong Son District recently held a ceremony to receive the certificate recognizing Sau Communal House in Thanh Cao Commune as a provincial-level historical and cultural site.
Recognising the importance of cultural heritage preservation in protecting and promoting the value system of Vietnamese culture, and serving socio-economic development in the new period, Party committees and local administrations in Hoa Binh province have identified it as a key task in the cultural development strategy.
