The People’s Committee of Tan Lac district recently hosted a cultural, sports and tourism festival of local highland communes and a ceremony to receive the Heritage Tree designation.
The event was attended by Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hoa Binh provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Council Bui Duc Hinh; Standing Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People's Council Nguyen Thi Cam Phuong; and Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Toan.

The festival offered an opportunity for locals and tourists to
explore the rich culture of the Muong ethnic people, and engage in various
exciting activities.
On the occasion, local authorities received the decisions recognising the
Heritage Tree status for the three ancient lychee trees in Van Son commune’s
Chien hamlet, and a carya sinensis (Annamocarya sinensis) in Quyet Chien
commune’s Bac Thung hamlet.
This recognition helps preserve the nation's genetic resources, honour the
value of plant resources, and protect local landscapes. It also aims to raise
public awareness of protecting natural resources and the environmental, and
develop tourist attractions to support community-based tourism and new-style
rural area building in Van Son and Quyet Chien.
At the festival, a wide range of activities were organised, including a contest
to introduce local cultural, tourism, and agricultural products, a cuisine
contest, a show featuring traditional Muong ethnic costumes, musical
performances, folk games, and sports activities, among others.
The festival was part of the Hoa Binh Culture - Tourism Week, which was also a
step to implement Resolution No. 13, dated October 17, 2022, of the
StandingBoard of the provincialParty Committeeon developing
highlandcommunes of Tan Lac districtinto provincial-level tourist
areasby 2030, with a vision to 2050.
It was also intended to help stipulate tourism demand and introduce Tan Lac
land and people to domestic and international visitors.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, visitors from near and far are eager to come to the mountainous district of Da Bac to have unique cultural experiences such as learning to wrap traditional cakes of ethnic minorities, practicing writing ancient Tay characters or immersing themselves in the Tay melodies.
Tan Lac has great potential for tourism development. In addition, the Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No. 13-NQ/TU, dated October 17, 2022, on building the highland communes in Tan Lac district into provincial-level tourism areas by 2030, with a vision to 2050. However, according to the assessment, implementing the goals in the spirit of Resolution No. 13-NQ/TU has had limited results.
Recognising that tourism and agriculture are local strengths, Mai Chau district is committed to building a green economy through an action program with specific pathways, achieving notable results in line with the resolution of the 26th Party Congress of the district.
