According to Ha Ke San, Vice Chairman of Phu Tho provincial People’s Committee, the 2018 Hung Kings Temple Festival will be held from April 21 to 25 as an annual event to commemorate the Hung Kings, the legendary founders of the Vietnamese nation.

This year’s festival, to be hosted by Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Quang Nam, Binh Duong and Kien Giang provinces, will feature a wide variety of traditional ritual and festive activities.

Highlights of the festival include an incense offering at Thuong (Upper) temple on April 25, a book fair, a contest of making chung (square) cakes, and an exhibition on the traditional rituals and festivals in Phu Tho province.

Visitors at the festival will have an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful melodies of Xoan (Spring) singing, which UNESCO recently added to its representative list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
