Vietravel is focusing on tours to beaches and islands in the country and abroad, which are expected to be very popular this summer.

The firm expects to serve 300,000 customers, a year-on-year increase of 15 percent, Vietravel Deputy General Director Tran Doan The Duy said.

Around 30,000 free & easy tours would be sold to meet the rising demand during the summer holidays, he said.

Tours to stunning beaches in the central cities of Nha Trang and Da Nang and provinces of Binh Dinh and Phu Yen and island tours to Phu Quoc and Con Dao are expected to be very popular.

Despite the rise in oil prices and air fares, tour prices are steady since the firm made plans at the end of last year to ensure good prices for customers, he said.

Booking early could fetch a 20 percent discount, he added.

Saigontourist offers discounts on three-day tour packages to Phu Quoc Island that cost only  3.57 million VND (156 USD).

The firm offers a 5 percent discount for booking two months prior to departure and 7 percent discount for group bookings for four guests or more.

Tran Thi Bao Thu, marketing and communications director of Fiditour, said the demand for free & easy tours has risen strongly among young travellers and overseas Vietnamese visiting the country during the holidays.

The free & easy tours are designed for small group of tourists and individuals who prefer to make their own schedules and services.

Outbound tours to Northeast Asian destinations such as the Republic of Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and China are popular, according to travel firms.
