The Hoa Nguyen ship with
more than 100 horsepower takes us out of the harbor, surfing on the lake. In
spring, the lake water is jade green, the spring rain is sprinkling on the rippled
lake’s surface. Low water levels reveal rocky outcrops, small islands with
fancy shapes, scenery like Ha Long Bay in the mountains. On the two sides of
the lake are protection forests and villages of people from Muong and Dao
groups vaguely in the dusty rain.
After more than an
hour of surfing, the ship docked. The flow of people from dozens of other ships
is bustling to the Chua Thac Bo temple in Vay Nua commune (Da Bac) and
Thung Nai commune (Cao Phong).
