(HBO) - Boasting spectacular landscapes and cool, fresh air, Hoa Binh reservoir is dubbed as Ha Long Bay on land. The reservoir has caught interest from many investors who aim to turn it into a famous tourist destination with typical tourism products in the northern region.

The investor of the Robinson ecotourism project in Sung islet of Tien Phong commune (Da Bac district) is proposing expansion and registered capital hike for the project.

A report of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment showed that, as of April, there were 51 projects and proposals to invest in the area, of them 19 received approval with a combined registered capital of about 3.51 trillion VND (152.88 million USD), which will occupy over 3,720 ha of land.

Most of the investors receiving the nods from the provincial People’s Committee in 2019 and 2020 have sped up procedures to shift the target of using forest land, compensation and land clearance in a bid to meet schedule. The number of completed and operating projects in the area makes up only 19 percent of the approved ones.

The Department of Planning and Investment explained that the implementation of projects in the Hoa Binh reservoir area faces difficulties in land clearance and the shift of land use target because a large area consists of forest land, which requires a longer time to proceed.

During a field trip to inspect the investment projects at the Hoa Binh reservoir area by Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Bui Van Khanh, Deputy Director of the Hoa Binh Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Duc Thang admitted that the progress of the projects remain stagnant due to slow land clearance.

After the trip, the office of the provincial People’s Committee issued a conclusion, in which the Chairman assigned the Department of Planning and Investment to help investors build documents adjusting the Robinson ecotourism project and review projects proposed by the Hoa Binh clean agriculture joint stock company, whether to put an end to its projects if the firm is not capable./.
