(HBO) - On such sunny and scorching summer days, Lac Son mountainous area has been a haven for tourists. It is home to wonderful, breezy and impressive landscapes like Bai Bui (Ngoc Son commune), Mu waterfall (Tu Do commune), Ngoc Son-Ngo Luong nature reserve and hamlets lying on the foot of the mountain. Of them, Mu waterfall, a gift of Mother Nature, has become a magnet to backpackers and tourists.
The
dry season in Mu waterfall (April 2021).
The waterfall has become more popular among tourists from other localities.
Measuring dozens of metres in height, the waterfall mesmerises tourists as it
flows through boulders amid spectacular forests.
In addition, Mu (currently Mu Khuong) village, which is wholly-inhabited by the
Muong ethnic group, also leaves unforgettable impressions on tourists for its
customs, code of conduct and exotic local cuisine.
In addition to cultural identity, Mu waterfall embellishes Muong Vang
culture-tourism prospects. Therefore, the district has rolled out measures to
boost tourist arrivals to the waterfall by making roads and pathways to the
location, as well as a bridge over the waterfall so that tourists can enjoy the
view and take photos.
Training courses on holding tourism activities were also held for local
residents. The waterfall was recognised as a natural landscape at provincial
level in 2017.
Unbeknownst to many, the waterfall once had six flows of different altitudes of
an average of 50m. It can no longer retain its original form due to a shortage
in sources of water.
The deformation, caused by the building of hydropower plants, evokes a sense of
discontent for visitors. They shared a thought that there can be numerous
hydropower plants, but there is only one Mu waterfall.
Actions must be taken as soon as possible to save the waterfall and help it
return to the original form. The waterfall is viewed as a rough diamond in Lac
Son, which is hoped to enrich ecotourism and cultural tourism potential of Ngo
Luong-Ngoc Son./.
