(HBO) There are beautiful natural landscapes from the primeval forests, the majestic caves, the poetic lakes and waterfalls, the terraced fields and winding steepy passes. The unique Hoa Binh culture is likened to an "epic land”. Hoa Binh tourism has been "awakened” thanks to these potentials, advantages, diverse and precious colors.

Since the application of the Central Resolution 5 (Term VIII), the province has made efforts to implement and at the same time there are many solutions to build and develop an advanced culture imbued with the national identity.

Contributing to the promotion and preservation of culture

In the four large Muong regions in the past (Bi, Vang, Thang, Dong), Muong Bi is considered to be the cradle of Muong culture in Hoa Binh. A lot of archaeological relics of the typical value have been preserved there and they have been studied by scientists. Especially, in 2008, the ancient Muong village of Ai hamlet, now it is Luy Ai hamlet in Phong Phu commune (Tan Lac) was recognized as one of 20 typical traditional cultural villages of the ethnic minorities by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. At the same time, the project "Preservation and embellishment of the typical traditional villages of Muong ethnic group” has been chosen to be invessted.

The culture of the ancient Muong village with typical architectural stilt houses, the intangible cultural heritages such as Mo Muong, Muong gongs..., the typical traditional cultural festivals such as Khai Ha festival, Chieng Muong festival, the new rice ceremony... is the foundation for Luy Ai hamlet to form and develop community tourism. From a place that has not been popular among people, Luy Ai hamlet has become a famous destination, offering visitors unique and new experiences in culture, specifically, they can discover the village and the natural attractions, experience the specific products and the unique services, learn about culture, customs and habits, enjoy Muong cuisine... A clean and beautiful rural environment has also been built there, contributing to exploiting the potential of community tourism effectively and sustainably.

Going back to the highland district of Mai Chau, visitors have the opportunity to learn and discover the unique culture of the Thai and Mong ethnic groups. In addition to some community tourism villages of Thai people that have been developed for a long time such as Lac village in Chieng Chau commune, Van and Pom Coong villages in Mai Chau town, Buoc village in Xam Khoe commune, some Hmong households in Hang Kia and Pa Co communes, have pioneered to do community tourism recently. Mr. Phang A Pao, a household doing community tourism in Cha Day hamlet, Pa Co commune, said: It is necessary to keep the cultural identity to do tourism. The households in the village have been promoting that, giving guests the experience of sleeping, staying in the traditional houses, enjoying the rustic cuisine, participating in brocade weaving, beeswax painting, picking tea, making Do paper, pounding Day cakes, playing folk games...

According to Ms. Bui Thi Niem, the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, besides the advantages of the natural resources, the culture and the humanity are invaluable resources for the province to promote, exploit and develop tourism. Along with the formation of the of community tourism villages, many beautiful customs and practices of the ethnic groups have been promoted, many ancient relics have been preserved. In some areas of Thai, Mong ethnic groups (Mai Chau), Muong ethnic people (Kim Boi, Tan Lac, Lac Son, Cao Phong), Tay and Dao ethnic groups (Da Bac), the people not only wear traditional costumes on holidays, Tet, festivals but they also maintain that beauty every day. With only this small detail, it has a great tourist attraction.

Introducing and promoting Hoa Binh culture

In January 2021, the Festival of Hoa Binh Culture - Tourism, a large-scale tourism promotion program of the province took place in Hanoi capital. In particular, the performance of Muong gongs by 100 artisans on Ho Guom walking street has made a strong impression on the domestic and international tourists.

Before that, a lot of events promoting culture were also implemented. They included the conference promoting tourism investment at the district’s level, the Week of Hoa Binh Culture and Tourism in 2019... In order to build a brand of Hoa Binh culture and tourism, many traditional festivals such as Khai Ha Festival in Muong Bi, the festival of Bo Temple, Xen Muong festival have been restored and maintained annually. The cultural identity has also also introduced to visitors through tourism stimulus activities and events such as: VITM international tourism fair in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and some Northwest provinces.

Currently, in the whole province there are about 20 community tourism hamlets and villages, there are 7 community tourism points in Mai Chau district, 4 points in Da Bac, 3 points in Tan Lac... Through tourism, visitors can understand more about tangible and intangible culture, especially the customs and habits of the daily life ... of the indigenous people. In the coming time, the province would take part in the tourism stimulus festival held in Hanoi capital and Ho Chi Minh City’s Tourism Festival in 2021. This is also the year to celebrate the 135th founding anniversary of the province, including the festival of the national community tourism villages in Hoa Binh. In any tourism program or activity, Hoa Binh culture imbued with the national identity is also a highlight of great attraction to be loved and honored.
