(HBO) – The People’s Committee of Da Bac district on October 22 organised a Kayak race on the Da River and a walk in Ke hamlet, Hien Luong commune, as part of the activities promoting tourism in Da Bac district, Hoa Binh province.

The opening ceremony saw the attendance of representatives from the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and other departments, agencies, organisations, associations and businesses in the district. The tournaments brought together delegation heads, coaches and more than 250 athletes.

The events aim to respond to the 2022 World Tourism Day, towards the National Tourism Year in 2023. Activities are expected to create a premise for the Kayak race to be held annually, thus promoting the nature, special culture and tourism of Da Bac to both domestic and foreign tourists.

As many as 60 athletes competed in the Kayak race and nearly 200 joined the walk from Ke to Mai hamlet, about 4 kilometres, seen as a green, clean and beautiful tourism route.

When the COVID-19 pandemic was been brought under control in early 2022, the Da Bac district People’s Committee has worked to promote local tourism. As a result, in the first nine months of this year, the number of holidaymakers to the locality increased 41% year-on-year. The tourism sector has also created stable jobs for labourers and helped to increase income of local residents.

The sport events are also expected to promote tourism recovery and development in the "new normal”, build the image of Da Bac as a safe, friendly and attractive destination for domestic and foreign visitors, while raising a fund for environmental protection./.
