Hoa Binh authorities has defined Kim Boi district as a focal point for high-quality eco-tourism and resort tourism development.

With a mineral water source that has been exploited since the French colonial period, Kim Boi has long been positioned on the tourism map at home and abroad. The former Ha Bi commune (now Bo town) has been attracting investors interested in urban and resort tourism projects. The quality of tourism products in the mineral spring area has gradually improved, meeting demand of both local and foreign visitors. Additionally, Kim Boi is a beautiful area with natural landscapes, open space, and clean and pure air.

Recently, the province started construction of a 50km road connecting the Hoa Binh - Hanoi region to Son La expressway with the first-phase investment of over 1.8 trillion VND.

Investors are currently interested in tourism projects in Kim Boi district. Last year, the district drew 28 tourism projects, most of them have been approved by the provincial People's Committee and are currently undergoing evaluation and approval of investment decisions. These projects include 12 golf course and resort projects in the communes of Binh Son, Tu Son, Vinh Tien, Du Sang, Cuoi Ha, Sao Bay, and Nuong Dam, six more planned golf courses and 13 luxury eco-tourism resorts.

After a period of surveying, Sun Group has proposed a plan to build a luxury eco-tourism, resort and entertainment complex with cable cars and mountain trains in Lac Son and Kim Boi districts. Last year, the total number of tourists to the district reached 290,000, bringing in 250 billion VND in revenue.

Nguyen Thanh Ha, head of the Kim Boi district Division of Culture and Information, said the district is coordinating efforts to improve the State management capacity of conducting tourism activities as well as business environment. In addition, the district has mobilised resources to invest in tourism infrastructure, fully tapping potential and advantages to create unique tourism products, develop leisure and hot spring tourism, health care, sports, ecology, spiritual tourism, entertainment and community-based tourism.
