At the meeting, the DRPK leader voiced his belief that Singapore’s
role will be recognised if the summit goes successfully.
Earlier, in his remarks posted in the Straits Times newspaper, the
Singaporean PM expressed his hope that two-way trade will increase if there is
a bilateral agreement and United Nations sanctions against the DPRK will be
lifted, although it will take a time.
Singapore, the seventh largest trade partner of the
DPRK, suspended its trade relations with Pyongyang
last year amid escalating tension related to its nuclear and missile programme.
The DPRK leader is set to meet US President Donald Trump at 9am on
June 12 (local time) to discuss the end of his country’s nuclear programme. He
will leave Singapore
at 14pm on the same day.-
