A total of 10 militants including a commander Qari Zahir were killed as military aircraft targeted a Taliban hideout in Khawja Sabzposh district of northern Afghanistan's Faryab province on January 22, provincial police spokesman Abdul Karim Yurash said.

"Acting
upon intelligence report, the government forces fighting aircraft pounded
Taliban hideout in Sarai Qala area of Khawja Sabzposh district at 02:00 p.m.
local time today killing 10 insurgents including notorious commander Qari
Zahir on the spot and injuring three others," Yurash told Xinhua.
Taliban
militants haven't commented on the report.
Both
government forces and Taliban militants have intensified operations against
each other.
Taliban
militants had in an attack on a security forces base in eastern Wardak
provincial capital Maidan Shar on January 21 killed scores of security forces
and injured scores others.
However,
government forces have dismantled Taliban control of commander center in
western Herat province on January 21, officials said on January 22.
