The Myanmar parliament resumed its sixth session on October 17, focusing on financial issues and policy.

According to parliament sources, Myanmar’s parliamentarians will
consider an additional state budget bill for the current fiscal year 2017-2018
and a change in the period of the fiscal year 2018 to start from October 1,
2017 instead of from April 1.
The issue of getting loans from the Central Bank of Myanmar to
fill the budget deficit of the government’s deposit account for 2017-2018 was
also discussed.
Approval is also being sought from the parliament for Myanmar's
participation in signing in the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral
Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) on provision of mutual assistance
concerning criminal cases and the agreement on the amendment of ASEAN
multi-investment contract.
During the last session of the parliament which ended on August
31, a total of 20 laws were
enacted, 16 draft laws were adopted by and 23 bills were considered.
The current parliament was formed through the general election in
November 2015 with the victory of the National League for Democracy (NLD) party.-
