At least 445 flights had been cancelled as of November 28 due to volcanic eruption of Mount Agung, affecting more than 90,000 passengers to and from Ngurah Rai International Airport in Indonesia’s Bali resort island, a top holiday destination that attracts millions of foreign tourists every year.

Maria Kristi Endah Murni, Director of Air Transport under the Indonesian
Ministry of Transportation, said Mount Agung’s volcanic eruption has also
affected 51 flights with almost 3,000 passengers at nearby Lombok International
Airport.
In the morning of November 28, Indonesian transport authorities decided to
extend the closure of the Ngurah Rai International Airport to 7:00 a.m. local
time on November 29 from 7:00 a.m. on November 28.
The Indonesian Government arranged about 100 buses in Bali and West Nusa
Tenggara to serve passengers affected by the incident.
Over 200,000 foreign holiday makers come into the Bali tourist resort every
month, according to the national statistics agency.
