The One Commune One Product (OCOP) programme is reshaping the rural economy of Lac Son district, helping improve living standards, particularly among the ethnic minority communities in remote areas of Lac Son district.
Mo Duc organic agricultural cooperative in Nhan Nghia commune, Lac Son district, is working towards an OCOP certification for its Oc nhoi (pila conica) product.
Head of the bureau for agriculture and rural development Bui Van Huan said the whole political system has engaged in the development of high-quality OCOP products to boost the economy and enhance local livelihoods over the recent past.
The district now boasts 15 OCOP-certified products, including one 4-star and 14 3-star goods. Leading the way is Nhung Van Hoa Binh Company Limited's turmeric powder, the district's first 4-star OCOP product which has reached out to several foreign markets.
Other successful OCOP products include Chi Dao Michelia tonkinensis, Lac Son ri chicken, Trung Khe sticky rice, Thanh An honey, and traditional brocade weaving, showcasing the district's diverse agricultural and cultural heritage.
Huan said that the OCOP programme not only improves production values, betters competitive edge of the local agricultural products but also forms value chains, shapes up clean production areas, and enhances the living standards of the local residents.
