The provincial Department of Industry and Trade developed a two-way trade model to enhance market access for the products of the ethnic minority people in Kim Boi and Lac Son district. The initiative aims at expanding distribution network for local essential goods.
The provincial Department of Industry and Trade
in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Da Bac district organise a
trade fair to introduce products by ethnic minority people.
In Kim Boi district, Bui Van Tron's household was
selected to carry out the model. His family has received support regarding
display equipment, marketing materials, and connections to distribution
networks. He said the assistance is meaningful as it has helped agricultural
producers establish market channels and bridge supply-demand gaps, adding the
model enables ethnic minority communities to access quality products at stable
prices.
The Phu Luong agricultural and services
cooperative in Lac Son district also engaged in the programme.
According to Quach Tuan Phong, head of
district’s ethnic affairs bureau, while ethnic minority communities produce a
wide range of agricultural goods, their market access remains limited.
Therefore, finding markets for the products is crucial.
Beyond mere product distribution, the programme
has improved businesses, cooperatives, and business households’ knowledge and
skills on brand building and market connectivity, he said.

From just 16 certified products in its inaugural year to 158 by early 2025, the One Commune One Product (OCOP) programme in Hoa Binh province has followed a steady and strategic path. But beyond the numbers, it has reawakened local heritage, turning oranges, bamboo shoots, brocade, and herbal remedies into branded, market-ready goods - and, more profoundly, transformed how local communities value and present their own cultural identity.
