(HBO) – In Hoa Son commune (Luong Son district), it is not difficult to meet with young farmers owning production models generating average incomes of 100-300 million VND per year. Those young people are the new and outstanding examples in starting businesses, with their attachment to their homeland along with their determination.

The model to raise chickens for eggs brings profit of 150-200 million VND each year for Nguyen Anh Duy (Tan Son village, Hoa Son commune of Luong Son district), which members of the commune’s Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union could learn from.

Starting with empty hands and experiencing many failures, Secretary of the HCM Communist Youth Union (HCM CYU) of Dong Quyt village Ha Huy Quang now is the owner of a 1.5ha farm with hundreds of trees of Thai apple and jackfruit. When beginning to grow the trees, Quang barely had farming knowledge and experience as he just learnt of the fruit varieties from a friend. He learned more from books and magazines, while joining training classes which were held by the HCM CYU chapters of the district and commune. To date, Quang has reaped initial achievements, as his products are well-liked by traders for their high quality and stable prices.

Quang said that the most difficult time for him and many other young people was when he had to choose the suitable process for starting a business. He came to know the new fruit trees by chance, during a visit to an efficient economic model of young people in Ha Tay (Hanoi). Upon studying the model, he realised that soil and climate conditions in his home village are also suitable for the trees. It can be said that his family’s success was greatly owed to support from the youth unions, Quang said.

At present, Quang’s farm was a typical model introduced to members of the HCM CYU in Hoa Son commune in its meetings, in order to expand the efficient model and to establish commodity production areas, thus raising the value and profit of local farm produce.

The HCM CYU chapter in Hoa Son commune has been an outstanding unit in implementing the campaign to support young people in starting out in business. To have more young people to settle down in their home village, the chapter has held various campaigns with guidance of the HCM CYU chapters at higher levels. It has paid attention to career guidance, vocational training, and job placement for local young people to reduce poverty and start out business to support their families as well as local development.

In 2017 alone, the commune’s HCM CYU chapter organised more than 20 technical training programmes to transfer science-technology for its members. In addition, as lacking capital being a major problem for young people when starting new business, over the years, the Hoa Son commune’s HCM CYU chapter has worked with the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to provide local young people with preferential loans to set up their businesses.

To date, the youth union has acted as trustee for the bank, providing loans worth 108 billion VND to 132 young families through three savings and loan groups. The help has helped many young people in the commune to launch their own farms and businesses./.
