Mr. Bui Van Tan, the Secretary of Youth Union of Tuan Lo commune (Tan Lac) starts his business with the model of growing Korean vegetables and roots on the "cold land" of Quyet Chien.
Exactly as what the Secretary of Youth Union of Tan Lac District Cao Viet Dong introduced, the beds of white radish, purple radish, the onion of Mr. Tan's family were all "terrible". "According to the information from the suppliers, in the South Korea, white radish which they grow can reach the highest weight of about 1, 6 kg. On this land, after 10 months of planting and recent 3 harvesting seasons, there have some radish weighed over 1, 6 kg. This onion is also originated from Korea, weighing up to 0.2 kg per one when being harvested. In general, the climate on this land is quite favorable, so the vegetables that my family is growing are quite in good development, "Tan shared.
In 2014, the Korean non-governmental
organization GNI (Good Neighbors International) launched a project to help
farmers in Quyet Chien commune grow vegetables and roots originating from
Korea. With the desire to build a model for the families, as well as leading
for local people to follow, Tan has discussed with his family to decide to
build this model.
In order to have a land area to build the
model, his family had to rent nearly 1, 5 hectares of paddy fields of the local
people. Fortunately, after the initial failure due to the disaster, up to now,
the vegetable garden has brought the initially optimistic results." He
delightedly told.
In May of 2017, Mr. Tan started to produce.
Up to now, he has collected more than 100 million dollars for selling products.
According to Tan, the products of his family are collected by supermarkets, so
they require products of very high quality. "Products must be beautiful,
as well as various sizes and safe. When collecting the products, if they check
and find that the products do not meet the requirements or the amount of plant
protection substances exceeds the permitted amount, they will eliminate the
products immediately. Therefore, we always have to learn, exchange techniques
to create clean products and meet the requirements of the supermarket, as well
as to develop sustainably, "Tan shared.
As the Secretary of Youth Union of Tuan Lo
commune, Mr. Tan does not have much time to care for the vegetable garden of
his family. Although the distance from his home to the garden is about 14 km,
every afternoon, he runs his motorbike to visit the garden. Currently, the task
of taking care of vegetable gardens is being done by his parents. In addition,
his family also creates regular jobs for 7 local laborers.
"At present, I have not planted all the
land we have hired, so we will focus on growing in the whole area and taking
good care of it." With the current development and output situation, I am
very optimistic about the direction I have chosen. On this land, for a long
time, chayote is a kind of vegetables which has brought high economic value,
but in winter, when the temperature is low, the chayote would grow poorly.
However, white radish, onions or purple radish originated from Korea are quite
suitable for the land here. It will be the advantage of the model that my
family is implementing. I myself will do my best to gain more knowledge to
create clean products for the market, "Tan shared.
Hoa Binh Province currently has over 870 hectares of tea plantations, with six districts having concentrated tea production areas that boast advantages in soil, climate, history, and distinctive tea varieties: Yen Thuy, Lac Thuy, Da Bac, Mai Chau, Tan Lac, and Luong Son.
