One of the important objectives of the Project on Agricultural Restructuring in the direction of enhancing the added value and sustainable development of Ky Son district is to accelerate the implementation of the New Rural Area program. Accordingly, the district has stepped up the implementation of policies to develop cultivation, craft villages, fish cage farming and consumption of agricultural products, renovation of mixed gardens, encouraging investment in agriculture and rural areas by the provincial People's Committee; registering for the implementation of the National Program of a product in each commune. The district focuses on developing the main crops with advantages such as citrus, white sugarcane and safe vegetables. So far, the total citrus area of ​​the district has grown to 180 hectares, earning from 300-400 million VND / hectare / year. Sugarcane has an area of ​​320 hectares, mainly fresh cane, with an average income of 100-120 million VND / hectare / year. At the same time, the district continues to renovate the forms of production organizations, consolidate and improve the efficiency of economic collectives and cooperatives. The whole district has 7 out of 9 communes with co-operatives, cooperative groups, co-operative groups operating effectively.

Over the past five years, from many capital resources and programs, Ky Son district has organized hundreds of technology transferring classes for more than 4,000 participants and implemented many models of high economic efficiency such as rice cultivation; new corn varieties; Japanese cucumbers; zucchini; mushroom; safe vegetables; honey bees, chicken raising, female pig raising, etc. The communes actively converted 35 hectares of inefficient rice land into high-value tree species such as blue pumpkin, cucumber, white sugarcane, citrus fruit, etc. In addition, the district develops production along the value chain such as the production - consumption chain of cucumbers; the project on planting and marketing products from Sacha trees planted with red tumeric; the link and consumption chain of edible mushroom products and medicinal mushrooms, etc. Thus, the life of people has been improved. Up to now, the per capita income in the district is over VND 40 million / year; The poverty rate has dropped to over 6%.
