(HBO) - The northwestern mountainous province of Hoa Binh harvested rice on 1,374 out of its 16,012 ha, accounting for 8.7 percent of the total area under the crop.

Localities with early harvest include Luong Son (452 ha), Lac Thuy (399 ha), Yen Thuy (163 ha), Ky Son (150 ha), Hoa Binh city (180 ha), Lac Son (20 ha), and Kim Boi (10 ha).

In addition to that, rice of the main and late harvest is ripening. Districts that have yet to enter harvest time are Da Bac, Mai Chau, Cao Phong, and Tan Lac. Local farmers are actively applying measures against pests and epidemics.

Productivity of the spring crop is projected to reach 5.7 tonnes per ha, 3-5 percent lower than that of the previous year, yielding more than 91,000 tonnes.
