(HBO) – A fair introducing safe and high-quality citrus fruits and agro-aquatic products of Hoa Binh province was opened at Big C Thang Long supermarket in Hanoi on November 14.

The opening ceremony was attended by Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam, and Vice President of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance Nguyen Manh Cuong.

Hoa Binh officials at the event included Bui Van Tinh, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Tran Dang Ninh, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; and Bui Van Khanh, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

The opening ceremony was also attended by officials of Hanoi and the provinces of Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen and Ha Nam, along with representatives of the Central Retail Vietnam group, Big C Thang Long supermarket, along with outstanding businesses, cooperatives and farming households of Hoa Binh.

The fair features 22 booths of 18 businesses and cooperatives from the province, showcasing a wide range of high-quality products like Cao Phong oranges, Tan Lac red-flesh and green-skin pomelos, Luong Son and Yen Thuy vegetables and fruits, shrimp and fish farmed on the Da River, Lac Son chickens, and tea products.

In his opening speech, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Bui Van Khanh said Hoa Binh pledges to create the best possible conditions for businesses and investors to explore cooperation opportunities and make long-term investment, especially in the production, harvesting, processing, preservation, sale and export of agricultural products.

The province hopes that in the coming time, it will receive more coordination from ministries, central agencies, the Hanoi People’s Committee and Central Retail Vietnam to organise supply – demand connecting activities to boost the sale of those products in the domestic market and seek ways to export them, thereby helping to raise local farmers’ income and develop production.

Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said the fair is part of a series of activities helping to boost the sale of localities’ specialities launched by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2018. It creates a chance for Hoa Binh to continue introducing its unique and high-quality specialties to Hanoi’s consumers via Big C Thang Long. It is also hoped to help the province distribute local products via the network of Central Retail Vietnam, which currently owns 37 supermarkets nationwide, and the group’s retail system in other countries.

At the opening ceremony, Big C and Hoa Binh signed memoranda of understanding on the sale of safe and high-quality citrus fruits and agro-aquatic products. The Hoa Binh parties were the Lac Thuy chicken farming cooperative (with Lac Thuy chickens that obtained the One Commune, One Product recognition), the Hoa Binh agricultural cooperative (with Luong Son goat products), the Dong Lai cooperative for clean agricultural product production and business (with Tan Lac red-flesh pomelos and Hoa Binh tangerines), the Ha Phong cooperative (with Cao Phong oranges), and the Cuong Thinh Construction Co. Ltd (with fish farmed on the Da River).

The fair is scheduled to last through November 18./.
