(HBO) – Thanks to the efforts of the authorities from the provincial to communal level, as well as endeavours of officials and locals in Cao Phong district, the switch of crop structure and application of science and technology in farming in the locality has been sped up, improving the productivity and quality of farm produce and increase the living conditions of local residents. So far, citrus tree development has been at the centre of attention.

The fifth Cao Phong orange festival and the Cao Phong trade fair 2019 are expected to create a good chance for local farmers to promote the trademark of the fruit to customers.

In the 2019-2020 crop, the district has over 3,000 hectares of orange farms, with over 1,544 hectares of trees yielding fruit with estimate output of over 40,000 tonnes.

The varieties of orange and mandarin grown in the crop include CS1, Xa Doai, On Chau, Ha Giang, Cao Phong, Duong Canh, Song Con, Sanh and Mart. The district also cultivates Dien, red-flesh and green-skin pomelo.

Cao Phong orange is the only brand in the province that has received geographical indication, helping more customers know about the fruit and making the sales and profit of farmers from the product more stable.

The fifth Cao Phong festival in 2019 is a chance for the locality to promote and introduce the trademark of Cao Phong orange. The event will have 200 booths, about 130 of which will showcase Cao Phong orange, mandarin and pomelo, along with those introducing plant varieties and agricultural equipment as well as farm produce, craft products and specialties of 12 communes.

Cao Phong orange production and trading cooperatives will also join the event, with 120 booths for general trading and 10 others offering foods and handicrafts.

The Cao Phong orange festival will take place from November 23-24, while the trade fair will be held from November 23-29 in the district’s cultural house.

A number of activities will be held in Heritist Park from November 23-29, including exhibitions of landscape works using Cao Phong orange for decoration and scientists’ memorabilia, as well as entertainment activities and games.

Visitors will have a chance to tour Cao Phong orange farm in Cao Phong town.

During the opening ceremony, the association for orange production and trading of Cao Phong district will make its debut./.
