(HBO) – Vice Chairman of the Hoa Binh provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Dung chaired a meeting on November 20 to look into the preparation for a week introducing local agricultural and food products at the Saigon Co.op retail system in Hanoi.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Dung speaks at the meeting.

The week will be organised at five Co.op marts in Ha Dong, Hoang Mai and Long Bien districts of Hanoi. Staples of Hoa Binh province on show will include citrus fruits, vegetables, mountain peanut (Plukenetia Volubilis L.), Solanum trilobatum tea, fish farmed in the Da River’s reservoir and chickens farmed on hills, which are all high-quality products with food safety, VietGAP, GlobalGAP and "One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) certificates.

At the meeting, officials noted the week is an important event for popularising local products and promoting investment, so it must introduce truly typical products of the province. The participating units also have to ensure the supply and preservation of goods during the week.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Dung said the event is an occasion to promote agricultural specialties of Hoa Binh and help consumers access safe and high-quality products of the province. Therefore, preparations must be made thoroughly.

Additionally, businesses and cooperatives will also have a chance to introduce their potential, strengths and key products; form connections between producers and distributors; seek contracts; and transfer technology, he noted.

The official also assigned the provincial Department of Public Security to coordinate with its Hanoi peer to ensure security, order, traffic safety and fire prevention during the week. Meanwhile, the Hoa Binh Cooperative Alliance needs to fine-tune the detailed organisation plan to submit it to the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee for decision. It is also necessary to step up communications about the week on local and central media agencies.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Saigon Co.op network in Hanoi from December 7 to 13./.
