HBO - The province’s One Commune One product (OCOP) programme has spread and won the community’s support in preserving and developing local traditional products. The programme also enhances the capabilities of local producers, especially trade villages, cooperatives, small and medium sized businesses, and business households in manufacturing and selling products.
Cities and districts of
Hoa Binh province have carried out surveys to assess the potential of their local
key products in order to register for the 2021 OCOP programme. A total of 33
products in the province have been registered. Of which, Lac Son, Luong Son and
Lac Thuy districts each has three products, Tan Lac district four, Yen Thuy seven,
Kim Boi 5, Mai Chau and Da Bac districts two each and Cao Phong district has
one.
In the coming time, localities
will provide support for local producers in meeting product standards, with
focus on production facilities, product quality, food safety, environmental protection,
product labels and packaging, traceability stamps, and bar codes./.
Once a mountainous province facing many challenges, Hoa Binh has, after more than a decade of implementing the national target programme on new-style rural area development, emerged as a bright spot in Vietnam’s northern midland and mountainous region. In the first quarter of 2025, the province recorded positive results, paving the way for Hoa Binh to enter a phase of accelerated growth with a proactive and confident mindset.

From just 16 certified products in its inaugural year to 158 by early 2025, the One Commune One Product (OCOP) programme in Hoa Binh province has followed a steady and strategic path. But beyond the numbers, it has reawakened local heritage, turning oranges, bamboo shoots, brocade, and herbal remedies into branded, market-ready goods - and, more profoundly, transformed how local communities value and present their own cultural identity.
