(HBO) – Luong Son district has so far had eight products recognised as three-star One Commune, One Product (OCOP) products, including Thuan Phat free-range chicken, Tan Thanh pomelo, Viba banana, Lam Son honey, Luong Son mountain goat meat, Hung Tien duck egg, My Tan guava and My Tan pomelo. This creates an important driving force to develop OCOP products.

My Tan pomelos grown under VietGAP standard by My Tan agricultural cooperative in Cao Duong commune, Luong Son district win favour thanks to high quality and good packaging.

Adjacent to Hanoi and serving as a gateway to the province, Luong Son district holds advantages to consume typical and quality farm produce. It is also the only district in the province to have stalls introducing and selling OCOP products of clear origin at reasonable prices, contributing to expanding the market and drawing investment in high-tech agriculture.

Do Quoc Huong, Director of the My Tan Agricultural Cooperative, said the cooperative is now home to over 60ha of pomelo and 15ha of guava meeting VietGAP standards and following eco-friendly and organic cultivation method.

To continue improving the quality of local farm produce, farmers’ income, and building farm produce trademarks with high economic value, the district defines that the standardisation of OCOP products must pay attention to quality and high efficiency, turning them into strong local brands.

To achieve the set goals, since the beginning of this year, Luong Son district has launched training courses on building and carrying out business plans, making dossiers to rate district and provincial level products. For fresh food, it instructed farmers how to receive certificates for production meeting safety standards, package and label products, apply for traceability stamps, product codes and barcodes, and trademarks. The district has also actively worked with units and businesses in and outside the province to seek consumption markets./.
