(HBO) – To adapt to the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure the sales of farm produce, in addition to traditional channels, many production units and cooperatives in Lac Thuy district of Hoa Binh province have tried to diversify methods to sell farm produce via modern retailing channels.

Son Lan cooperative in Dong Tam (Lac Thuy) sorts chicken eggs and packs them in accordance with order in the Postmart.vn e-commerce market.

With the collaboration with the Postmart.vn e-commerce platform, the agricultural sector of Lac Thuy has addressed bottlenecks in the sales of its OCOP products.

Bui Thi Lan, Director of Son Lan Cooperative in Dong Tam, said that before COVID-19 broke out, the cooperative sold its chicken eggs directly to local consumers and through links with supermarkets and retail shops in Hanoi. However, in recent months, trading activities face many obstacles due to social distancing measures.

As a result, the cooperative took the initiative to ask for assistance from the district’s agriculture and rural development office to bolster sales.

The office has helped connect the cooperative with the district's post office, so that it can put members' products on the e-commerce platform of Vietnam Post.

Besides Son Lan, in recent year, with the birth of new agricultural models, due attention has been paid to new retail channels. The district is now home to three supply and sales chains, ensuring stable markets for local products.

Vice head of the district’s agriculture and rural development office Hoang Dinh Chinh said cooperatives and units greatly benefit from access to modern retailing channels.

As the development of farm produce sale channels still faces various difficulties, to seize opportunities, cooperatives and units in the district need to enhance their management capacity, devise development plans and orientations in accordance with their situations./.
