(HBO) – Thanks to the Government’s Resolution dated on July 1, 2021, and the Prime Minister’s Decision issued six days later, 11 businesses in Hoa Binh province have been lent to pay wage to furloughed employees, thus helping recover their operation affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a meaningful policy that has assisted enterprises to overcome pandemic-caused difficulties.

Staff of the provincial branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) learns about capital demand of businesses in Hoa Binh city.

A leader of the Hoa Binh branch of the VBSP said since the policy on lending for furlough pay was issued, the bank’s branches and relevant agencies have stepped up communications, instructed companies to carry out borrowing procedures, and disbursed capital in a timely manner.

By the end of 2021, the entire Hoa Binh branch provided loans worth over 4.5 billion VND (nearly 197,000 USD) for 10 businesses to give furlough pay to more than 1,300 turns of workers. Since the beginning of 2022, the branch and its transaction offices in districts have continued this policy. Statistics show that the entire branch has so far lent over 5.1 billion VND to 11 enterprises to benefit 1,548 turns of workers.

Amid complex developments of the COVID-19 pandemic that have been hindering many businesses’ operations, the Resolution is described as a "lifebuoy” for them.

Tran Thi Phi Yen, a representative from the Da Hop Educational System JSC, said having operated for just a short period of time, her school has been hit hard by the pandemic for two straight years and suffered from revenue losses, while it still has to cover expenses and pay salary to employees.

It is lucky that the school has been helped by the provincial VBSP branch to seek loans under the two documents, she said, noting that this is a timely and practical support policy. However, as the pandemic remains complicated and businesses are still facing numerous difficulties, they hope that this policy will provide aid at higher levels and for a longer period of time.

This is also the wish of many businesses in Hoa Binh in the face of pandemic-caused difficulties.

At the meeting to launch tasks for 2022, the representative board of the provincial VBSP branch’s Board of Directors stressed that the branch and related units will push ahead with grasping the borrowing demand and assisting enterprises to handle borrowing procedures, thereby standing side by side with businesses in their efforts to weather the pandemic./.
