(HBO) - In order to improve local farmers' income, Lac Son district has been striving to attract businesses and promote the role of cooperatives in creating and building agricultural production and sale development linkages towards a safe and sustainable manner. In particular, amidst the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the development of these linkages has proved effective, contributing to promoting agriculture and timely sale of agricultural products, and ensure their quality.

Members of Hieu Thinh Green Agricultural Cooperative in Nhan Nghia Commune (Lac Son) grow ginger to orders of the signed contract.

Hieu Thinh Green Agricultural Cooperative in Nhan Nghia Commune currently has about 15 hectares of safe vegetables and livestock farming. In this, the safe vegetable linkage model has a scale of 8 hectares, and an income value of over 200 million VND per ha per crop. Ha Tien Thao, director of the cooperative, said that over the recent years, the cooperative has linked with the Republic of Korea’s enterprises to grow pumpkins, thus contributing to increasing farmers' incomes. In addition, two years ago, the cooperative signed a contract to produce ginger and pink banana with Pacific Co., Ltd., which initially showed obvious effectiveness despite the complicated developments of the pandemic. Therefore, the cooperative plans to expand the farming area to meet the needs of the purchasers in a timely manner.

Determining that agricultural production has great value in the economic structure of the district, over the past time, the district has actively mobilised and guided local farmers to change the crop structure to improve agricultural productivity and quality of key crops, and increase the application of science and technology advances. As a result, the district has gradually formed a number of concentrated and large-scale production areas, and implemented production linkages.

Bui Van Khanh, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, said agricultural and forestry production currently occupies for the highest proportion in the economic structure of the district. From the end of 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has oriented for an investment project to build a preliminary processing factory and cold storage to preserve agricultural products in the district. It has also supported the locality to build infrastructure and roads to ensure the development of farming areas. To facilitate the implementation of the project, Lac Son has been implementing solutions to create conditions to attract businesses to invest in agricultural production in the locality./.
