(HBO) – Over the years, the Vietnam Farmers' Union (VNFU) at all levels in Hoa Binh city has actively supported local farmers in fostering their linkage as well as promoting and selling their products, thus ensuring and enhancing incomes for them.

The emulation movement on conducting outstanding business and production activities and supporting each other in getting rich and getting out of poverty sustainably has spread widely and become fruitful across the city.

Each year, the city receives registration from more than 60% of local farmer households for the title of outstanding producers and businesses. The movement has encouraged local farmers in renovating their mindset and mobilise capital for production development, thus becoming richer.

Over the recent years, income of outstanding farmer households in the city has increased by 2-2.5 folds. Currently, more than 5,200 members of the local VNFU are earning 200-500 million VND (8,426- 21,066 USD) each per year, while 382 are enjoying income of 0.5-1 billion VND annually, and 34 report income of over 1 billion VND.

Trinh Thi Hien, Chairwoman of the Hoa Binh city’s VNFU, said that in the recent tenure, along with the achievements, local farmers have faced many difficulties, especially those from the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, the unions at all levels have accompanied with and assisted them by building 13 new collective economic models to encourage local farmers to foster their connection and help them sell their products. The union has offered them capital for production and business activities and technology application in production, and assisted them in promoting and selling their products, Hien said.

Along with popularising the Party and State’s policy on agricultural production support, the union has supported local farmers in expanding the market.

In the tenure, the union has supported six production facilities and 12 households to popularise their products through conferences and trade fairs in the province and region. As a result, six businesses have signed contracts with local farmers to buy their products.

It has coordinated with the provincial Post Office to provide 19 training courses for 726 officials and members of the union to sell products on e-commerce platforms such as Postmart.vn, voso.vn, and Sendo.vn.

At the same time, the union has also worked with authorised agencies to launch four safe farm produce shops, along with those to introduce OCOP (One Commune-One Product) products of the locality, while helping farmers acquire VietGap and OCOP standards for their products. Thanks to the efforts, the sale of the products has become more stable, enhancing the economic values of the products and improving incomes for local farmers./.
