Hoa Binh province has mobilised all resources to propel local agricultural products to make inroads into foreign markets, towards lifting the export turnover of key agricultural products to 137.8 million USD by 2030, accounting for 3.4% of the locality’s total export value of goods.
The locality aims to export farm produce to the US, the European Union, the UK, China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.

In August 2015, the provincial People's Committee approved an agricultural restructuring project by 2020 in the direction of increasing value-added and promoting sustainable development. As a result, during this period, the local agricultural sector made great strides, with its average annual growth expanding by 4.5%, accounting for nearly 20% of the province's economic structure.
On the basis of the result, the agriculture and rural development sector of Hoa Binh continued restructuring the agriculture sector in 2021 – 2025 with specific roadmaps.Hoa Binh has set a goal of diversifying export markets, expanding the annual average export turnover by over 18%.
Apart from specifically implementing the agricultural restructuring plan for the 2021 - 2025 period, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development effectively managed planning in the field of agriculture and rural development, promoted investment attraction in agriculture, and well performed various projects, plans, and solutions to further develop agriculture and rural areas.
Nguyen Huy Nhuan, Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said with incentives for agricultural and rural development, investment capital for agricultural development in the locality has significantly increased over the recent times.
Agricultural production has achieved remarkable achievements, with some targets set for the period met and exceeded.With its potential and advantages in land and agricultural techniques, over the recent years, Hoa Binh has continuously expanded areas for producing agricultural products, focusing on producing safe agricultural products with high quality, developing production chains that meet VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards to serve both domestic and foreign markets.
Numerous activities to promote trade cooperation and supply-demand connection have been conducted, helping the locality seek and expand markets for its agricultural products. In 2022 and 2023, local firms exported many agricultural products to the US, the UK, and the EU, including fresh sugarcane, bamboo shoot, orange, and tea.
Once a mountainous province facing many challenges, Hoa Binh has, after more than a decade of implementing the national target programme on new-style rural area development, emerged as a bright spot in Vietnam’s northern midland and mountainous region. In the first quarter of 2025, the province recorded positive results, paving the way for Hoa Binh to enter a phase of accelerated growth with a proactive and confident mindset.
