The Hoa Binh Power Corporation (PC Hoa Binh) has applied synchronous measures to gear up for the coming summer season when power consumption demand surge may cause a risk of power supply disruption.

Workers of PC Hoa Binh instruct locals to apply power saving
measures during hot season.
Vice Director of PC Hoa Binh Nguyen The Hung said that in 2023, the Northern
Power Corporation in general and PC Hoa Binh in particular faced many
difficulties and challenges due to extreme weather conditions with prolonged
heat. Power demand surge in May and June last year led to a power shortage in
the north, he noted.
He said that last year, PC Hoa Binh’s commercial electricity output reached
1,319 billion kWh, up 8.8% compared to 2022, which was a high growth rate
compared to the general average of the Northern Power Corporation.
This year, the weather situation is forecast to continue to develop
complicatedly with the heat coming earlier and the temperature predicted to
increase higher than the average level in previous years. Therefore, the
electricity supply is likely to be greatly affected, especially in the Northern
region.
According to PC Hoa Binh's forecast, commercial electricity output in 2024 will
reach 1,414 billion kWh, an increase of 7.2% compared to 2023. The results of
the first quarter of 2024 were 306.52 million kWh, a rise of 9.1% compared to
2023.
In order to ensure safe and stable electricity supply during the hot season,
right from the beginning of 2024, Hoa Binh PC has deployed many synchronous
solutions, including speeding up major construction and repairing projects,
building power supply scenarios and non-commercial demand response (DR) plans.
The company has established a working group and supporting department to
implement the electricity demand management programme.
Hung said that one of the important solutions is strengthening communications
to encourage power saving efforts and call for large-scale customers to engage
in demand response (DR) programmes, and switching production hours during the
hot season.
Accordingly, PC Hoa Binh has sent requests to customers with consumption from 1
million kWh per year, asking for their coordination.
As of the end of the first quarter of 2024, the firm had signed agreements with
25,000 large-scale customers in power saving, along with 93 major customers in
DR implementation with total DR capacity of 35.13 MW.
The firm also reached agreements with 50 customers to mobilise diesel
generators with a capacity of 100 kW or more each to support in generating
electricity when the shortage of system's peak capacity occurs.
With these solutions, PC Hoa Binh has been ready to ensure power supply in the
whole hot season, meeting the demand for electricity for production and daily
activities of customers across the province.
Dao Village’s honey – a product certified with a 3-star OCOP (One Commune One Product) rating by Thong Nhat Agricultural Cooperative in Dao Village (Hoa Binh City) – is highly regarded by consumers for its quality, richness, and variety in packaging. The distinctively sweet taste of Dao Village’s honey leaves a lasting impression on anyone who has tried it.
In alignment with Project No. 07-DA/TU, issued by the Hoa Binh provincial Party Committee on November 1, 2021, Lac Thuy district has actively promoted investment and supported the sustainable development of its industrial and handicraft sectors during the 2021–2025 period. Alongside this, the district has remained committed to preserving and revitalising traditional craft villages.
Located in the northern part of Lac Thuy district, with a temperate climate and fertile soil, Phu Thanh commune has great potential and advantages in growing tea. The long-standing experience, combined with strict adherence to organic farming practices in the tea gardens, ensures that the dried tea products from Phu Thanh and Lac Thuy as a whole are sold out immediately upon production, providing a stable and prosperous life for the local people.
Amid efforts to streamline the administrative apparatus, Hoa Binh province has intensified measures to address challenges in land clearance, resettlement support, and infrastructure investment, aiming to speed up the progress of key projects.
Hoa Binh province has posted an unprecedented economic growth rate of 12.76% in the first quarter of 2025, marking its highest quarterly performance to date and positioning it as the second fastest-growing locality in the country, trailing only Bac Giang province.
Under current regulations, products in the One Commune – One Product (OCOP) programme that are rated three stars or higher must undergo re-evaluation every three months. However, in reality, some of these products fail to consistently meet the required standards, raising concerns about the sustainability of their OCOP certification. This underscores the urgent need for producers to enhance product quality and gradually develop their OCOP products into strong, marketable brands.
