With just over a month left until the school summer break, students are eagerly anticipating a period of rest and fun after a year of academic pressure. To provide a healthy environment for the physical development, in addition to the classes that foster talents and enhance the academic knowledge, sports and physical activities continue to attract a large number of children and teenagers.

Every summer, in the late afternoons, the local cultural centers, the community activity areas, and the commune’s or ward’s People's Committee yards, from cities to rural areas buzz with energy as children gather to join sports clubs and classes. The sports like martial arts, swimming, football, basketball, and modern dance offer practical benefits for children's health, well-being, and physical development. Martial arts, including karate, vovinam, and taekwondo, are especially popular among the parents and young people, as they not only improve physical fitness but they also build confidence, discipline, resilience, and a strong martial spirit. Meanwhile, swimming helps children improve height, stamina, concentration, cardiovascular health, and, most importantly, it prevents the risk of drowning.

To meet the demand of parents and children, many sports classes and activities are being organized in various localities this summer. Several clubs and classes have already begun recruiting students. Notably, Lac Son Karate Club is enrolling students for its 2025 summer class, with two training locations: the district cultural house and An Nghia Primary and Secondary School. The Candy Dance Class is accepting students aged 5 and above for hip-hop and modern dance. Hien Luong Vovinam Club (Da Bac) is also recruiting students to train at Hien Luong Primary and Secondary School. Every summer, the Provincial Youth Activity Center organizes a variety of skill and talent classes to nurture abilities, promote strengths, and develop physical fitness and life skills for children. As a result, the atmosphere of summer sports training in some areas is beginning to "heat up.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Huong, a parent from Phuong Lam ward (Hoa Binh City) says: "Every year, after my kids finish a hard-working school year, I sign them up for the sports classes during summer. Last year, they learned how to swim, and by the end of the course, they could swim freestyle and breaststroke pretty well. They enjoyed the lessons. This year, even before the summer starts, they're already asking to join a martial arts class. As a parent, I find these summer sports activities extremely beneficial as they provide valuable experiences and help the kids grow physically and emotionally.

To ensure effective training, all classes are led by a team of experienced, dedicated, and responsible instructors and coaches, with lesson plans tailored to each age group. With nearly 16 years of experience in operation and development, and having achieved many outstanding accomplishments in competitions, Lạc Sơn District’s Karate Club has become a shining example in the karate training movement within the province. For many years, the club has been a place to build character and develop skills for generations of martial arts students, and it is a trusted destination for parents to send their children. Mr. Bui Van Lich, the head of Lac Son District’s Karate Club, says: "Every year, the club organizes summer karate classes that attract many students. Through these classes, the children learn the basic techniques and strategies, train to improve their health and physical development, and become more agile and flexible. In addition, moral education, discipline, perseverance, teamwork, resilience, and life skills are also integrated into the training. The children also have opportunities to interact, compete, and gain experience through internal and local tournaments. This summer, we began enrollment in early April to arrange venues, facilities, and equipment to best meet the needs of the students

Not only do these activities offer practical benefits for the physical and mental well-being of young people, but participating in healthy sports and physical training during the summer break also helps children avoid video games, social evils, and accidental injuries. With the attention of the authorities, organizations, and localities, many more meaningful and enriching playgrounds for children will be organized in the near future, helping them enjoy a fun, fulfilling, and meaningful summer break.
