Many activities have been carried out across Vietnam to support needy people and policy beneficiary families on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.


Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh granted 200 scholarships to excellent students with underprivileged backgrounds in Bu Dop, Loc Ninh, Bu Dang and Bu Gia Map districts

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh visited and presented gifts to Heroic Vietnamese Mother Pham Thi Duyen, in the southern province of Binh Phuoc, on January 15. Four of her children took part in the resistance war against US imperialists and two of them laid down their lives during this war.

She also granted 200 scholarships, worth VND 1 million (US$ 44.6) each, to excellent students with underprivileged backgrounds in Bu Dop, Loc Ninh, Bu Dang and Bu Gia Map districts. On the same day, she handed over three houses, worth VND 50 million (US$ 2,230) each, to low income households in the province.

* On January 15, former President Tran Duc Luong visited and granted 100 gifts, worth VND 1 million (US$ 44.6) each, to policy beneficiary families and to underprivileged people in Duc Pho district, Quang Ngai province.


 Earlier, he also visited and offered 100 gifts, worth a total of VND 100 million (US$ 4,460), to policy beneficiary families and poor households in Ba To district, Quang Ngai province, on January 14.

* Nhan Dan (the People) Newspaper has coordinated with the Red Cross of Muong La district, Son La province to hand over a house of gratitude to Cam Thi La family, which is a disadvantaged family in Muong La district.
