Talking with us, Mr. Bui Trong Dac, the Director of Department of Education and Training said: the task of improving the quality of teaching foreign languages, especially English at all levels and training is always identified as the main task in order to make strong educational innovation. Currently, the Department has directed to diversify the programs, forms of training and fostering in order to meet the training objectives and the need to learn foreign languages of students. Moreover, it is necessary to focus on building and developing an environment for foreign language practice through the development of foreign language learning communities. At the same time, they need to continue fostering foreign language teachers and lecturers, especially foreign language teachers of high schools to meet the requirement of implementing the 10-year foreign language program.

In addition, the Department of Education and Training also instructed schools to focus on fostering English teaching methodology for primary teachers who have not met the required standards or have not been trained in pedagogy so that they are allowed to take the courses to meet the required standards before assigning teaching. Elementary school teachers, who have reached the Level 4 (B2) or higher according to the framework of foreign language ability of 6 levels of Vietnam, will be arranged to teach 4 lessons / week. Teachers who have been fsupported to take part in training courses but have not met the requirements will be made payroll reductions.

The sector also increased the investment in facilities and essential teaching aids; applying information technology, renovating teaching materials of teaching foreign languages; to broaden and develop cooperative relations with international educational organizations and foreign educational agencies; maximize international support in terms of fostering the competence of foreign language teachers. Moreover, it is necessary to Renew examinations, examining and assessing foreign language skills and applying IT in teaching and learning foreign languages. Hoang Van Thu Gifted High School and some other schools are encouraged to offer bilingual English language teaching in Maths and Natural subjects.
