(HBO) – At the age of 70, with more than 40 years serving in the Communist Party and dedicating in education career, Teacher Pham Hung, as Chairman of the Study Encouragement Association of Cao Phong Province, has great concern with study encouragement issue. Teacher Pham Hung.
Despite his age, Pham Hung still maintains
the manner of a decent teacher with true talent and morality. He said: "For
those who are working to encourage study, enthusiasm is just not enough; they
have to do it with a bright heart, passion and proper understanding of the
local situation. Moreover, they are also needed to keep close tracks of poor
families whose children are in school age, in order to encourage and help them
to facilitate their children’s schooling”.
For many days, on his old motorbike, he and
the staff patiently go to see poor families who have school-aged children to
present gifts such as books, notebooks or pens, in order to encourage the
parents to let their child to go to school. Besides, he also encourages
individuals and organizations to raise funds to help these poor children, so
that they can try harder in their study to gain better academic outcome. On the
occasion of new school year ceremony 2017 – 2018, a total amount of 184.7
million dongs was raised from those individuals and organizations for the fund
of helping poor students with excellent academic results. In 2017, the movement
"The Sponsor” helped 158 poor students with the total amount of 126 million
dongs.
The children’s schooling is not his only
concern. He also pays special attention to the education of localities in rural
and mountainous areas, especially areas with extremely difficult social –
economic situation. He said: "The majority of people in these areas only
finished high school, some even below that level. Therefore, it is necessary to
encourage them to enroll in courses provided by local profession training
centers or community education centers. However, this practice is not simple at
all. In order to do that, those staffs working in the area of study
encouragement must help them feel passion of learning and make them realize
that it is never too late to start studying, because studying helps them to
improve their life quality. In 2017, there were 26,804 people enrolled in the
Community Study Center, 123 community development clubs established and 400
group members working to raise people’s awareness, knowledge and skills under
the slogan "Learn what you need to learn”.
With these great efforts without tiredness,
Pham Hung was the first person who was honored with the Medal for the career of
establishment and development of the Vietnam Study Encouragement Association”
by the Vietnam Central Association of Study Encouragement. He was also given
Certificate of Merit for 7 times by Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnam
