(HBO) – In that time, the capital of Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) has promoted its efficiency practically, especially in supporting production development for poor households and beneficiaries of social welfare living in Mai Chau – a highland district. This is considered as an effective tool in the implementation of hunger eradication and poverty reduction, job creation and ensuring social security for ethnic groups in the area. Because of accessing the preferential loans to develop economy, people’s lives have been improved steadily. In 2017, there are 325 households which escaped the poverty with the help of preferential loans.

Thanks to the preferential loans of Vietnam
Bank for Social Policies (VBSP), Ms. Thi Kieu Ha and her family, living in Cha
hamlet, Tong Dau commune (Mai Chau), has invested in feeding buffalos. After
repaying the loans, she still gained two buffalos as profits to reinvest.
In order for people to access the
preferential loans, VBSP in Mai Chau district has cooperated with political-social
organizations to establish new branches at many hamlets and communes, which
facilitates the disbursement, debt and interest collections. At the same time,
VBSP cooperated with Examination Board to monitor the evaluation of lending
whether or not to follow the regulation of policy and beneficiaries properly,
and promote the efficiency of using preferential loans as targets planed.

in Mai Chau, said: "Mai Chau district is implementing 14 programs about preferential
loans. Receiving these loans, dozens of households escaped the poverty
sustainably, dozens of people have jobs and many students and poor households
who borrowed these loans could go to school and construct houses respectively.
At the end of March, 2018, the outstanding
balances of these programs about preference loans in Mai Chau attained 246.795
millions VND, equal to 95% of amount planed.
The balance of savings deposited by
organizations and individuals, and savings in Financial Institutes has gained
21.155 millions VND. There are 230 financial institutes in the whole district
and 7.958 customers having loan outstanding balance. Next, the works of
consolidation and improvement the quality of services of credits have enhanced
significantly, particularly in that there are 319 millions VND of bad debt
accounting for 0,13% of the total debts, and there is no defalcation and misappropriation fraud. Moreover, there are
23 branches located in communes of district to supply services of lending, debt
collections and others of VBSP”.
In late March, 29 labourers from Da Bac district were sent to work as seasonal farm workers in Buyeo county, Chungcheongnam province, the Republic of Korea (RoK). Upon arrival, they quickly settled into their jobs, enjoying good working conditions and benefits, with wages aligned with the terms of their signed contracts. The programme is now being expanded, with relevant departments and sectors actively seeking additional seasonal employment opportunities in various localities across the RoK.
Luong Son Industrial Park has invested in standardised wastewater and emissions treatment systems, enforced tight emission controls, reduced noise, dust, and solid waste, and expanded green spaces, contributing to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development.
