Vietnamese students brought home one gold, four silver
and two bronze medals in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad 2018.

With the result, Vietnam ranks third out of 31 countries and territories behind
China and Russia.
The gold medal was carried off by Pham Duc Thang from the High School for
Gifted Students under National University - Hanoi.
Hoang Xuan Nhat from the High School for Gifted Students under National
University - HCM City, Nguyen Khanh from the High School for Gifted Students
under National University - Hanoi, Trinh Huu Gia Phuc from the Lam Son High
School for Gifted Students in the central province of Thanh Hoa and Nguyen Minh
Tung from the High School for Gifted Students under National University - Hanoi
won silver medals.

University - Hanoi and Duong Quoc Hung from the Thang Long High School for
Gifted Students in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong won bronze
medals.
The Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad 2018 was held online on May 13with 586
contestants from 31 countries and territories, including 15 Vietnamese students
who joined the contest online at National University - Hanoi. A total of 87
contestants won medals.
In the previous Olympiad, Vietnam won five silver medals and one bronze medal,
finishing seventh in the medal tally.

In late March, 29 labourers from Da Bac district were sent to work as seasonal farm workers in Buyeo county, Chungcheongnam province, the Republic of Korea (RoK).
