The six gold medallists were Do Quang Minh, Dang Quang Thang, Pham Quoc Hung, and Tran Gia Huy from Hanoi, Hoang Tuan Dung from Ha Giang province, and Nguyen Dinh Kien from Hai Phong city.

Among them, Tran Gia Huy, from the Archimedes Academy School in Hanoi, was ranked fifth overall, entering the top 10 students together with nine others from the host Singapore.
Vietnam sent nine students to the APMOPS 2018, who stood out from the 422 entrants during the national round of the competition in Vietnam.

Organised by Singapore's Hwa Chong Institution, APMOPS is an annual mathematics competition for students aged under 13, with the aim of generating greater interest in mathematics among primary students and sharpening their problem-solving skills.

Initially launched in 1990 as the Singapore Mathematical Olympiad for Primary School, the competition was renamed as APMOPS, as it has included overseas centres from the Asia Pacific countries since 2002.
