(HBO) – We felt her always enthusiastic and devoted to the work when we contacted with Ms. Bach Thi Thao, Deputy Director of Consulting and Care Department of the provincial Social Work Center.

Having worked at provincial Social Work Center for nearly 10 years, despite many difficulties, Ms. Thao always tries to do all her duties well. Recalling the early days, when she was not yet adapted to the new working environment, her children were young, and her home was far away from work. In addition, due to the particular nature of her job, she often had to stay in the Center outside of working hours to be in charge of primary school children, each with different family backgrounds, personality and capacity to absorb unevenly; so many times she was discouraged and wanted to change her job. But with her perseverance and enthusiasm, she gradually overcame difficulties. Being shared, supported and aided by her family, she tried her hardest to find and research the right solutions for her work. The more and more familiar she is, the more and more close she feels attached to the profession, with people living and working in the Center. The innocence, nature of the children lacking the warmth of parents, not knowing family feeling since their births are the motivation for her to have more will, firm in doing her work.

"Most of the children living in the house of the Center have very special situations. Some were left right after being born and they did not know their parents. Some are living in the family with alcoholic fathers, who frequently beat the mothers and children. Hence, to let the child safe and have a chance to go to school, the mothers had to send to the center; every year, only in the Lunar New Year or on summer vacation, the mothers can pick them homes. Because the children here are lack of family’s emotion since they were small, they are always craving for being cared, loved and shared. Every time we have a volunteer group, the children are excited and close to the volunteers, they do not want to leave far away from them. As a mother, I feel the loss, the lack of family’s warmth of those children, therefore, I always try my best to take care of them, teach them as my own children. Sometimes, I spend more time for the children here than for my children, "Ms. Thao shared.
