(HBO) – The Bac Son commune of Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh has promptly reported to the district authorities on illegal gold mining at Tang Hill, Hay Tren Village, conducted by people from other localities. The commune has then coordinated closely with the district’s agencies to expel these illegal gold miners.

Shortly after receiving instructions from the Party’s Committee
and People’s Committee of Bac Son, the commune’s military command has mobilized
local forces including the police and mass organisations, and coordinated with
the district’s police and military command expel illegal gold miners from the
mining site. The command also assigned working groups to guard the site at
night to prevent the illegal miners from returning and local residents from joining
illegal gold mining.
After the operation, authorized forces have arrested 11 illegal
gold miners, including 9 men and 2 women, according to Bui Van Liem, deputy
chief of Bac Son’s police. Five of them are from Son Thuy, Kim Boi district of
Hoa Binh while the remaining hail from Nam Dinh, Cao Bang, Vinh Phuc and Hanoi.
The site where they have conducted unlawful gold mining activities
covers an area of about 360 sqm on Tang Hill. The land was initially owned by the
family of Bui Van San, a local man living in Hay Tren Village.
In April this year, San’s family sold the land to a man named Son
in Hanoi for 300 million VND.
The arrested miners told the authorities that Son bought the land for
the stated purpose of growing tangerine but in fact, it was used for illegal
gold mining.
