(HBO) – According to Mr. Bui Van Vu, the Deputy Head of Tan Lap Commune Police:"In the first six months of the year, there have been 9 cases of social order and safety in Tan Lap commune (Lac Son), which are mainly theft and disorder actions. The cases were under the jurisdiction of the commune police and then transferred to the district Police for solving the cases under their authority. However, the rate of drug addiction has been in trend of increasing in recent 2 years, which made the local people annoyed and worried".

Grasping the situation of drug abuse and young people working far away.

Regarding to the difficulties in the controlling task to the drug abuse, the Deputy Head of the commune Police Force said: "At present, there are about 600 people leaving the homeland to work far away from home. Some teenagers and young people leave schools for working manually at other places without registration or announcement to those places’ authorities. This causes many restrictions in information catching and human controlling. If the communal people leave for working abroad or working at far companies or factories, they all need to register their temporary absence certified by the local authorities, people working in the mineral exploitation fields have not declared so it is too difficult to manage.”

Facing with the above situation, the Commune Police Committee has advised the Party Committee and the local authorities to take many measures to prevent and repel drug abuse evils in the area. The propaganda and popularization of knowledge about the harmful effects of drugs have been promoted through integrating in meetings, conferences and stage forms of propaganda for more than 1,000 people per year. The commune police regularly call for suspected objects for testing, promptly detect new cases of addiction to monitor and mobilize their families to go to detoxification, implementing calling and  and detering detainees. There are currently 2 subjects voluntarily weaning off by themselves and 6 subjects must use compulsory detoxification at Drug Treatment Facility No. 2 who are being treated with drugs instead of methadone. There are no cases of HIV / AIDS infection among drug abuse subjects. The commune police coordinates with the mass organizations for propaganda among the members to raise vigilance and efforts in participating in the fight against drug abuse evils.
