(HBO) – Being disturbed and anxious with the waste land for many years, wasted with low income from unstable jobs, The Youth Member Quach Thu Huong, Doi Village Union Branch, Thanh Nong commune (Lac Thuy) decided economic development, rise to riches. Huong bravely applied science and technology into intensive cultivation, bringing high income by the model of planting red dragon fruit.

The Youth Member Quach Thu Huong is
harvesting red dragon fruit.
Realizing the potential and advantages of red
dragon fruit, in 2013, Huong discussed with her family to buy 700 red dragon
fruit trees from a garden house in the next commune. At first, due to lack of
experience and technical skills, the caring task was difficult. However, with
her hard-working and high determination, besides her time at the garden, Huong
spent most of her time researching, studying materials about planting dragon
fruit. Therefore, in the first harvested year, her dragon fruit garden brought
back about 50 million VND to Huong’s family, and 100 million VND for the second
harvest. After only 3 harvesting seasons, Huong has paid a debt of 100 million
VND to invest in planting dragon fruit. Up to now, the dragon fruit garden has
been harvested for 5 years, each year she collected 300 million VND, after deducting
all the cost she gained 200 million VND.
Huong said that in the process of cultivating
dragon fruit, in addition to good care,
technical know-how, the choice of suitable fertilizer for each soil is also
very important for the quality of fruit. At present, Huong is renting more land
to increase the area of red dragon fruit. Besides, in addition to finding the
right learning experience, the selection of breeding places is a very important
step to decide on the quality of the fruit later. Through many references and
books, Huong decided to order plants in the garden near the place she lives.
With this, Huong knows the origin of the seedlings, she understands that the
dragon fruit garden has developed very well and one more important thing is
that it is easy to learn, exchange experience when necessary.
