A working group visits residents in Pa Hang
Lon hamlet, Pa Co commune (Mai Chau district) to make identity cards for local
elderly.
Hang Kia and Pa Co communes have been seen as
"hot spots” of drug crimes in Hoa Binh. The localities are home to about 800
households with more than 6,000 people. Most of them belong to the Mong ethnic group. Since 2009, competent
forces have detected tens of cases, confiscating nearly 100 bricks of heroin,
more than 20,000 meth pills and many relevant objects.
To fight drug crimes in the two communes, the
provincial police have proposed many concerted solutions on security, order,
and socio-economic development to the provincial Party Committee and authority.
One of the solutions is establishing special
working groups tasked with keeping a close watch on the situation of the
localities as well as acts of suspects, and setting forth combat plans.
The role of the elderly, village heads and
prestigious people has also been promoted in the work.
The special working groups have joined hands
with the anti-drug police bureau and concerned units to break up two cases with
18,159 meth pills, two bricks of heroin, about 2kg of crystal drugs and many
other objects.
