(HBO) – The Military Command of Yen Thuy district in the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh recently presented bicycles and scholarships to disadvantaged students with outstanding academic results.


As many as 70 bicycles were presented to students living in difficulties.

Accordingly, armed forces and military units positioned in the district, along with local businesses, presented 70 bicycles worth 84 million VND (about 3,610 USD) to students who have overcome difficulties to obtain good academic achievements.

The sum was sourced from salary and donations of staff and soldiers of the armed forces, military units in the district and workers of local businesses.

In addition, the Military Command of Yen Thuy district granted three scholarships to poor students and 29 gift sets to children of staff and soldiers of the district’s armed forces who gained good results in the 2017-2018 school year.

As part of the programme "Accompanying students to school”, from 2015 to the end of 2017, the district’ armed forces joined hands with businesses and army units to mobilise money in support of the needy, with 272 bicycles, one wheelchair and 163 scholarships worth more than 320 million VND (13,780 USD) in total.

Furthermore, military forces of the district also sponsored 16 disadvantaged students with a finance of 162 million VND (6,960 USD). The support has eased economic burden of the students ahead of the new 2018-2019 academic year so that they can focus on their study and become helpful citizens in the future./.
