(HBO) – On August 17, a delegation from the Ministry of Education and Training, led by Minister Phung Xuan Nha, made a working visit to Hoa Binh. The delegation held a working session with provincial officials, including Bui Van Tinh, Party Central Committee member and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Tran Dang Ninh, Standing Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; and Nguyen Van Quang, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

Currently, Hoa Binh has a total of 660 educational facilities, of which 275 schools acquire the national standard. The rate of pupils completing primary and junior high education hits over 99 percent, while the rate of graduation at senior high schools is between 95 and 99 percent.

Speaking at the working session, Bui Van Tinh, Party Central Committee member and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, stated Hoa Binh has made significant efforts in merging schools to streamline the education sector’s apparatus while maintaining training quality.

He said the province has paid due attention to career guidance for students in line with socio-economic development and local conditions.

Tinh asked the Ministry of Education and Training to advise the Government on policies on high-quality boarding education for ethnic minorities and planning of teacher’s training facilities.

Tran Dang Ninh, Standing Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Head of the provincial People’s Council, proposed designing policies to encourage biennial language usage in public agencies and continue the reform of methods to assess students’ performance.

Concluding the session, Minister Phung Xuan Nha said the Ministry of Education and Training is focusing on improving its training school network, particularly pedagogic facilities; and shaking up the arrangement of schools to cut number of managers and add more facilities and equipment.

The assessment of teachers’ quality should include teaching skills, professional ethics, social relations, and self-learning, he added, asking the province to carefully check demand for teachers at different levels of education, apply IT in teaching and management, and design standard English courses.    

Career guidance for students, teaching of ethnic languages and international cooperation are also important, Nha noted./.
