(HBO) – The organisation of job placement events was one of the solutions that the northern province of Hoa Binh applied in 2018 to create employment for local labourers.

The provincial employment
service centre organised 11 job counselling sessions for nearly 2,000 labourers
during the year, during which 150 were recruited by enterprises. In addition to
the regular activity of job consultancy, the centre held 11 job placement events,
including six mobile job fairs in districts and five online involving nearly
200 enterprises. More than 2,500 people were given occupational advice and 206 found
jobs.
Many businesses outside the province attended
the events with need for large numbers of workers such as Japan’s Sumidenso at
Dai An industrial park (Hai Duong city) recruiting 1,000 workers; the Republic
of Korea’s LG Display at Trang Due industrial park (Hai Phong city) seeking 600
workers; and Vietnam Coal – Mineral College of the Vietnam National Coal –
Mineral Industries (Quang Ninh province) looking to recruit 500 workers.
Thanks to the application of effective measures
to connect labour supply and demand, the province achieved positive outcomes in
employment in 2018. According to the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids
and Social Affairs, the province found jobs for 18,259 workers, surpassing the
yearly target by 10 percent. The industrial and construction sectors created
jobs for 6,059 people; agriculture, forestry and fishery 8,575 people; trade
and services 3,625 people. The labour structure saw positive changes with the proportion
of labourers in agro-forestry-fishery declining to about 62.5 percent. The rate
of unemployment in urban areas was around 3 percent. The province helped find jobs
through the national employment fund for 1,260 locals and assisted 360 others
to work abroad under contracts.
The National Science and Engineering Fair for secondary and high school students was held at Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City from March 19-21 by the Ministry of Education and Training.
As women's participation in key leadership positions of Hoa Binh province is still modest while some women in rural and mountainous areas or from ethnic minorities face limited access to policies, the provincial Party Committee's Organisation Board has advised the provincial Party Committee's Standing Board to direct Party committees at all levels and localities to pay more attention to training female personnel and creating favourable conditions for women to take over leadership and management roles, thus addressing a shortage in the number of female cadres.
The Department of Education and Training of Hoa Binh province held a conference on March 18 to review the performance of the "Safe and Happy School" Project and set out tasks for 2025. The project, funded by the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF), aims to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for students. The event saw the attendance of representatives from the TFCF and 26 beneficiary schools.
With over 70% of their workers being women, trade unions across industrial parks (IPs) in Hoa Binh have been actively safeguarding their legal rights and interests while implementing initiatives to improve their income and well-being.
