(HBO)-It was Do Phuong Thanh (born in 2000) - a former student of the English gifted class, Hoang Van Thu specialized high school. She passed the entrance exam into the Foreign Trade University with 26.2 points. In the evening of December 22, 2018, Thanh excelled over 5 finalists in the final night to become the winner of the My FutureNZ competition, which was co-organized by the New Zealand Embassy in Vietnam, New Zealand ENZ and VTV7 in Hanoi.

Do Phuong Thanh received the New
Zealand video Contest 2017 - New Thinking New Direction from New Zealand
Ambassador in Vietnam and IDP Company representatives.
My FutureNZ is a competition for school
students and students in Vietnam. In order to be present in the final contest
night, before that, Thanh had to go through online elimination rounds.
"For me, both rounds have the same difficulty and pressure. However, once
you have passed the elimination round, the highest pressure is at the final
contest night because you have to perform the speaking test in 3 minutes long
and answer questions from the jury in English”, sai Thanh. To have the best
contest, Do Phuong Thanh had to practice constantly. She had to train so that
she could be confident when standing in front of the crowd, could cultivate
more knowledge, especially to have the standard English speaking and
pronunciation skills. In the final round, Thanh had 3 minutes to present in
English about Sustainable Tourism and then answer questions from the jury. From
Thanh’s point of view, this is an important issue that should be paid much
attention in the process of promoting our country's tourism. With the effort of
hard work, the results are totally worth her when she became the winner. She
won a seven-day trip to New Zealand, one iPad and one online scored test with
the value of US $36 from PTE English. Talking about her English learning
experience, Thanh affirmed that she could only study and persistently practise.
Previously, English was a very boring subject for Thanh, but now it has become
her joy and passion. In order to study this subject well, in addition to the
lessons in class, Thanh often spent time reading books written in English in
the school library, listening to music, watching entertainment programs in
English via Youtube, recording and listening to her own pronunciation again and
fixing it herself.
Currently, Do Phuong Thanh is majoring in
international business in advanced Japanese model at Foreign Trade University.
In the university environment, Thanh and his classmates are studying their
subjects in English, Japanese and some specific subjects of Japanese teaching.
This is a favorable environment to help Thanh promote and further improve her
ability to use English.
